I am doing my 2nd pregnancy/childhood video with Robert Mendelsohn M.D. It is an educational video series called ''Moments With Mendelsohn'' I am so impressed with your wonderful site. I would like permission to reference it in the 2nd video with Dr. Mendelsohn, which will be the importance of breastfeeding. If you would like to see the first utube educational video just google Dr. Mendelsohn's or my name. Perhaps you remember some of Dr. M's books like "Confessions of a Medical Heretic" & "How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor" and others.
Thank you so much for your great work and your consideration.

You have a great site here Yuri; I don't know how you find enough hours in a day!

I like the informational /cautionary material that you present when it is based on quantified scientific analysis and testing. That allows me to decide for myself based on the information (such as MSG, colouring).

However, I dislike it when it is presented on the basis of pseudo-science or conjecture. That leaves me to think that the material itself is suspect. (such as BHT / BHA [which must save more humans from health harm than not], or a raw food diet)

As with all of the basic elements ingested by humans, the argument is usually one of dosing (even water and oxygen are "toxic" if over-dosed).

I enjoy your site. Keep it up. Thanks.

You talked about MSG. I assume, therefore, that knowing the names of food ingredients that contain processed free glutamic acid, the toxic component of monosodium glutamate, will be of value to you and those who read your page. They are as follows:

Names of ingredients that always contain processed free glutamic acid:

Glutamate
Monosodium glutamate
Monopotassium glutamate
Yeast extract
Anything “hydrolyzed”
Any “hydrolyzed protein”
Glutamic acid
Calcium caseinate
Sodium caseinate
Yeast food
Gelatin
Textured protein
Yeast nutrient
Autolyzed yeast
Natrium glutamate
E621 (European numbering system)
Vetsin
Ajinomoto

Names of ingredients that often contain or produce processed free glutamic acid:

Carrageenan
Bouillon and broth
Stock
Whey protein
Whey protein concentrate
Whey protein isolate
Any “flavors” or “flavoring”
Maltodextrin
Citric acid
Anything “ultra-pasteurized”
Barley malt
Pectin
Protease
Anything “enzyme modified”
Anything containing “enzymes”
Malt extract
Soy sauce
Soy sauce extract
Soy protein
Soy protein concentrate
Soy protein isolate
Anything “protein fortified”
Anything “fermented”
Seasonings

The following are ingredients suspected of containing or creating sufficient processed free glutamic acid to serve as MSG-reaction triggers in HIGHLY SENSITIVE people:
Corn starch
Corn syrup
Modified food starch
Lipolyzed butter fat
Dextrose
Rice syrup, brown rice syrup
Milk powder
Reduced fat milk (e.g.., skim milk; 1% milk; 2% milk)
most things low fat or no fat
anything Enriched or Vitamin enriched

Glutamic acid found in unadulterated protein does not cause adverse reactions. To cause adverse reactions, the glutamic acid must have been processed/manufactured or come from protein that has been fermented.
