Dangers of An Acid Diet

April 28th, 2011

acid dietDo You Have An Acid Diet?

Keep reading to find out!

As you know, an acid diet is heavily related to many diseases and an inability to lose weight efficiently.

But what is it an about acid-forming foods that cause such problems in the body?

Well, to understand this phenomenon we need look no further than the early research findings from 2 Nobel prize winning scientists, Dr. Linus Pauling and Otto Warburg.

What they discovered was that cancer cells cannot grow in alkaline environment, yet they proliferate in an environment that is acidic.

Looking inside the body now, we can see that if your blood (most importantly) is just slightly acidic, a whole host of problems can occur.

I’ve described many of the problems that occur with an acid diet in a previous article.

But for now, just remember that following the herd and eating like everyone else is simply not going to help you lose weight or help you achieve the level of health that you want.

The reality is that most people are not eating anywhere near enough fruits and veggies and an even smaller portion of people are enjoying incredible health and vitality by eating a raw food diet.

Why Do Raw Foods Help Overcome an Acid Diet?

Because raw foods are alkalizing – the complete opposite of the acid diet that is so well in western world. Eating grains, animal products, and processed foods are all reasons that most peoples’ diets are becoming more and more acidic.

And that’s just one more reason that we are sicker and fatter than ever.

Do You Have an Acid Diet?

In case you’re wondering this question, it’s really pretty easy to tell if you have an acid diet or not. Just keep a food journal or at least be conscious of the foods you’re eating.

If you notice that most of your foods are coming from boxes, packages, and animal sources, then you’re most likely acidifying your body quite heavily. Especially, if you’re not balancing things out with lots of alkalinity that is provided by eating fruits and veggies.

Another way of knowing whether your diet (and thus your body) is acidic is to self-diagnose your current state of health.

Are you tired all the time?

Do you need to take frequent naps or sleep more than 8 hours a night?

Do you easily get sick?

Do your skin, hair, and nails look dry and unhealthy?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then you owe it to yourself to make a change and clean up your diet.

So how do you that? Where do you start?

Well, you can start by watching this FREE presentation that I’ve put together for you. It will show you everything you need to know to alkalize your body and move away from an acid diet.

Plant Based Recipe Guide

New Plant Based Recipe Guide Puts Oprah to Shame!

plant based recipe guideLast week I brought up the fact that Oprah’s Vegan Challenge was a big fat joke because of how few REAL plant-based foods were included in the “vegan” diet she and her staff were following.

Instead, what Oprah’s vegan “expert” prescribed for them was a diet full of processed, man-made soy foods. It was terrible!

Soy burgers, fake meat, and other packaged vegan food. It was shocking.

I mean what’s the point of following a plant based recipe guide if isn’t even based on REAL plant foods based? You might as well continue eating animal products – as long as they’re from a good source!

Nothing disturbs me more than seeing such nonsense and it only reaffirms how much we ALL need to learn more about and choose natural whole foods.

And today, I’ve got an amazing new resource to share with you.

It’s a new plant based recipe guide developed by a fiend of mine, and one the world’s leading strength & conditioning coaches, Jay Ferrugia.

What I love about his new recipe guide (which is jam-packed with 134 plant based recipes) is that Jay shows even the hardcore exercisers that eating a vegan diet IS the way to amazing fitness results and overall health improvements.

Over the past 2 weeks, I’ve been testing out his recipes (at least 18 of them to date) to see if they fit my health criteria and my taste buds.

And they do – on both accounts.

In fact, as I write this email I’m sipping on his “Tropical Fruit Protein Shake” (page 18) – it tastes great!

If you’ve read Eating for Energy or gone through our Total Wellness Cleanse you’ll definitely WANT to add these 134 vegan recipes to your collection. Even if you haven’t, this is must-have if you’re serious about achieving and maintaining fantastic health.

And because Jay’s such a great guy, he’s given my “peeps” (that’s you!) a 47% discount off the regular price of his new recipe guide. I don’t know when he’ll be upping the price but I surely wouldn’t wait!

Check out Jay’s Plant Based Recipe Guide <——- Yuri approved!

I know you’ll enjoy it as much as I have!

Your friend and coach,

Yuri

P.S. Jay’s a strength coach with a specialty of getting guys and girls really strong. That’s his claim to fame. And that’s why I resonate so well with his new plant-based recipe guide. Like me, he’s showing “athletic” people how to eat well (not just stuff themselves full of calories) – and that’s a hard thing to find in the fitness world!

P.P.S. It’s nice to finally a see a plant based recipe guide that isn’t full of garbage – sorry Oprah!

Simple Way to Eat More Fruits and Veggies

December 28th, 2010

fruits and veggiesI don’t know if I’ve already shared this fruit and veggie trick yet but I just put together a video which shows you a simple way to eat more fruits and veggies (see video below).

The reason we should be eating more of these “plant foods” is that they are the key to longevity, radiant health, and an energetic body.

Other than essential minerals and nutrients, fruits and vegetables are packed with disease-fighting phytonutrients that will keep you heathy, no matter what life throws your way.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Americans are from their recommended dose of fruits and veggies revealing that the average fruit intake among persons aged >2 years remained the same from 1994–1996 to 1999–2002 (1.6 servings) and that average vegetable consumption declined from 3.4 to 3.2 servings during the same period.

No wonder the nation is so sick!

So how many servings of fruits and vegetables do you need each day?

8-10 seems to be the concensus.

And that’s really not that difficult if you’re making salads, smoothies, or juices on a daily basis.

But if you need more help, then the little trick I share in this video should help.

Enjoy

Eating for Energy Thanksgiving Special

November 22nd, 2010

I’ve got a great Eating for Energy Thanksgiving special for you!

But before I get to that let me tell why I’m doing this and why you NEED what I’m about to share with you…

The simple truth is that we eat more during the holidays. As a result, most people tend to put on a few extra pounds each time Thanksgiving rolls around (no pun intended).

In fact, a recent study in Nutrition Journal revealed that participants gained a significant amount of weight (0.5 kg) during the 3-4 days of Thanksgiving.

While an increase in weight of half a kilogram may not be cause for alarm, the increase could have potential long-term health consequences if people retain this weight gain throughout the year and repeat this pattern year after year.

The study also found that because the overweight/obese participants gained the greatest amount of bodyweight during Thanksgiving, this group may be at increased risk for weight gain and further obesity development during the holiday season.

But it gets even better (and by that I mean worse)…

A 2007 report in the New York Times highlighted the fact that most research is now showing that MOST people are packing on 7-10 pounds of fat between Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays!!!

That’s 7-10 lbs in just ONE month.

Why is this happening?

Well, it’s not rocket science – lots of food and lots of drinking.

Even the best exercise program doesn’t stand a chance against this kind of indulgence.

But it’s not just the quantity of food, it’s also the kind of food and how it’s been eaten.

Heavy proteins and starches, lots of sugar and sweets, and late night eating are just a few culprits behind holiday weight gain.

And that’s why I’ve prepared 3 INCREDIBLE GIFTS for you today.

Are you ready for them?

Here they are….

inflamation_cover50Thanksgiving is one of the most “inflammatory” times of the year.

In fact, listening (or reading) this interview alone could save you over the holiday season! I’m serious.

Once again, you’ll get both the audio interview and written transcript to learn from.

Fatigue: Why Hamburgers, Donuts and Soft Drinks Are Not Your Friend.

October 28th, 2010

donutsIf you’re struggling with constant fatigue and tiredness, then you’re certainly not alone. Considering fatigue is the number one complaint received by doctors around the world, it quite literally has become a Global epidemic.

And I have to say, this became increasingly evident to me as I conducted a training session at work the other day.

You see as staff arrived into the classroom, I was horrified to see a few finishing off their hamburgers, donuts and soft drinks.

When I questioned the ‘donut eater’ – her response was “I’ve been up since 2:30am – I need some sustenance!”

Now correct me if I’m wrong, but donuts and sustenance really don’t go together in the same sentence. In fact if you look on the back of most donut packets instead of listing the ingredients, they call it ‘Nutritional Information’.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t see any nutrition in something that contains a lot of trans fats and sugar.

These type of foods only sap your energy levels because they have undergone so much human intervention, and just like Yuri explains in his book – Eating for Energy, your body has no idea how to digest it.

So if you’re looking for ways to overcome chronic fatigue and tiredness, then just apply the following:

1. Avoid processed food as much as possible.

2. Eat raw foods as much as possible.

3. Everything in moderation.

By just incorporating the above 3 things into your daily regime, not only will the weight fall off but your energy levles will begin to skyrocket too. Because despite what you may think, hamburgers, donuts and soft drinks are definitely not your best friend.

Kind regards,
