Everything in Moderation – Is It Really The KEY To Good Health?

July 16th, 2010

moderationWe here this statement time and time again – that “everything in moderation” is the key to achieving good health. But this statement is actually incorrect.

Why? Because everybody’s version of ‘moderation’ is different.

One person might think that having 1 soft drink a day is a little, so that must be OK. On the other hand, somebody else might think that having 3 soft drinks a day is little – so that must be OK too.

But the truth of the matter is, there are some foods that we shouldn’t be eating at all! So we really need to scratch the statement – “everything in moderation” because it really isn’t the key to achieving good health.

A lot of food is toxic on the body, they actually do it harm. Many foods deplete our immune system and deplete our bodies of vitamins and minerals.

So it’s time to get rid of the belief – “Everything in moderation!”

A lot of us are led to believe that food found on a shelf is actually healthy. That there is some governing body authority protecting our health – but this is not true!

There are no agencies out there that protect us by checking every single ingredient for chemicals and preservatives.

Most of us take better care of our houses, our gardens, our computers and TV’s. They come with a manual, and instruction book – but we come with nothing!

We’ll walk into a grocery store and pick up a box because it says “healthy” – but never actually take the time to read the ingredients.

If you pulled up at a gas station and it said ’sulphur dioxide’ – you would ask, “What is that?” Because you know your car won’t work if you put the wrong fuel in it. But we never ask “What ingredient is preservative 202?” that appears on our box of Krispy Kreme donuts – but we should.

The word ‘healthy’ – is not regulated by anybody. Just because it says “healthy” on the box doesn’t mean that it actually is. Which is why you want to try and avoid as much food as you can that contains artificial colours and preservatives.

Just as Yuri explains in his book – ‘Eating for Energy’ - your diet should not incorporate a lot of processed food. Eat food as nature intended us too – as close to it’s original state as possible.

Food inside a box is certainly not as good for you as that which is picked off a vine or tree.

So start being very selective about WHAT you put into your mouth is … because your health is directly related to what you eat – not just how much.

Getting Back on the Wagon

July 12th, 2010

Hi Everyone. :-)   Just to let you know,  I love meat and I love alcohol and I love dairy and I love sugar.  I’m not gonna lie.  This Eating for Energy is a tough one for me.   I was doing well for a while and then. . .  I fell off the wagon, and I’m trying to get back on it.  I signed up with Yuri to write this blog way back in April and I’m finally, er, setting pen to paper. . . (heh) Let’s see how it goes.

Anyway, my poor juicer had been wondering what happened to me and when I fired her up today for a little concoction of Liver Booster she almost didn’t know what to do with herself.  Let me tell you, that was some delicious juice.  If you haven’t tried it, you should.  My body was thanking me immediately.

It’s amazing how much your body can tell you about what’s going on inside when you’re tuned into the nuances of the signals it sends you.  I have seriously felt in the last couple of days that my body is completely polluted. . .    Can’t wait to start cleaning it out!  Yay!  Let’s eat for energy.

Eating for Energy is All about Direction

June 28th, 2010

human energyOnce a week Pierrette & I have our “Junk Food Day”. After two and one half years we have maintained that day just as a compass to keep us in the right direction.

Yuri Elkaim did not and does not dictate to us and his guidance has given us the strength to reach Perfect Health because we want to,not because “”He” wants us to.

We now understand the obligation we have to ourselves to learn all we can about our bodies, our food and how all of it works together. In all our research, we could not find any one person that could make us all understand all of it, by ourselves, for ourselves and at the rythm we were ready to go at.

The 12 week plan is a plan not an absolute. We tried many recipes and added this or that to our taste. Nowhere is it written that Yuri would chastise us if we did not follow his every word.

Understanding why we ate the way we do was a real learning experience. I have become a resource person for people at work because they see a miracle unfolding in front of their very eyes. I am so proud of Pierrette & I for following such a great human being. Being part of your life journey is one of the greatest experiences of our lives.

Back to Junk Food Day for a moment. When we tell people they need to learn how to change their way of eating, we are always meet with incredible resistance. There fear of losing, some of the foods they dearly love, makes them defensive immediately. Have you encountered this?

Pierrette & I made an oath to ourselves when we started our journey, “Never to let anyone take the decisions in our place”. Yuri understands this and Junk Food Day has become our way of never forgetting how we use to eat. Often we could just forget about it but we want to always have it fresh in our minds.

Eating for Energy has helped me to get  to a very healthy, unmedicated 165 lbs from an unhealthy over medicated 242 lbs. Pierrette has gone from an unhealthy 195 (5′4″) down to a healthy 128 lbs. You do remember we are 58 years young?

Back to Junk Food Day for another moment. We eat chocolate, french fries and fried chicken. Potato chips, and candy are always part of a Junk Food Day and we now realize that we are in control of our bodies, not the other way around.

Follow Yuri yet use your own judgement. Read the book as a guide and keep it close. Discuss it with friends and family and join the Eating For Energy bandwagon, as we have.

Thank you Yuri for being who “You” are, not what others think you should be.

5 Ways to Boost Your Energy

June 21st, 2010

Energy is a precious thing, something to conserve, save, and try not to waste; we are forever searching for new ways to boost our ever-dwindling supplies. But I’m not talking about turning off the lights when you leave a room, or switching to solar power. I am talking about your own personal energy, something much harder to boost and even harder to conserve. Here are five ways that you can boost your energy reserves, while staying within the boundaries of a healthy lifestyle.

The first thing you can do to boost your energy is to start eating more raw foods. Of course, a raw food diet will help with more than just energy, but it is certainly an important reason to switch from a cooked and processed foods way of eating.

Many foods lose vital minerals during the cooking process – minerals that can help to give you the energy you need during the day. Raw foods also contain living enzymes that allow your body to work cleaner and easier, conserving the energy in your food for the work you choose to do, rather than the digestive work you need to simply keep going.

Another way to gain more personal energy is to plan to get more sleep. We all know that a good night’s sleep should be around eight hours, but few of us actually manage to get that much rest. Continued lack of sleep can result in a buildup of “sleep debt”, which can increasingly effect your concentration and ability to perform at your peak. A well rested body is an energized and recharged body, able to use the energy in your raw food diet more efficiently and effectively.

Another important factor in preserving your personal energy levels is the amount of water that you drink. You may think you are properly hydrating yourself, but if your liquids come flavored or altered, you may not be getting enough pure water. Hydration is key to staying in the zone – if your body becomes dehydrated, you run the risk of wearing yourself out prematurely. Make sure to drink a few glasses of water every day, and try to never wait until you are thirsty to have a drink. Thirst is your body’s way of telling you that you are already low in liquids.

Another way to get more energy is to quit the coffee. If you are a caffeine user, the idea of having less to get more energy might sound wrong, but many studies have shown that long-term caffeine users actually gain no energy or alertness from their morning coffee; they are simply fighting the effects of overnight withdrawal symptoms. Go cold turkey, and soon enough, you won’t need the coffee anymore.

Last but not least, get your daily required amounts of vitamins to maintain and gain energy throughout the day. With a properly calibrated raw food diet, you should not have to resort to pills and capsules to supplement your food; everything you need for great energy can be found within a raw food eating plan.

Eating for Energy is Not Fiction

June 20th, 2010

human energyI have tried all the diets out there as many of you have. The conclusions are always the same. The diet tells you a success story and you try to emulate it in order to become just like the movie star in the adds.

Eating for Energy and Yuri Elkaim is not  fiction but  reality. It is your story waiting to be discovered. It offers the help you need, not hopes and dreams. The 320 pages are filled with “how to” information that will make you mad. Yes, mad that you did not do this before.

  • Yuri pulls no punches and he tells you what you need to hear not what you “want” to hear.
  • Being in perfect health is a goal we all want and struggle to obtain. How to get it is the reason this book is so useful.

The 12 week meal Plan is exactly what it is, a Plan. You need to make it your own, play with it and personalize it. Yuri is not trying to make little Yuri’s out of you. He is trying to help you find the real you . The benefits will be your own because you will find the real you. No fiction here.

The breakfast ideas are exactly that, ideas. You will love them and wished you would of thought of it on your own. I was surprised at the taste of real foods for maybe the first time in my life. My wife keeps telling me,”You never would of before…”. That is no fiction my friends.

The world of Eating for Energy is one that will make you fell as though you are on a different planet. The amount of energy you will feel in your body is an experiance you will want  to share with others. Everyday at work people come to me and ask what my secret is. They comment on my skin, my hair and most of all, my attitude.

I have always been a smiling positive person. For people to admire and notice a beam emulating from my new found energy is very rewarding. Sharing this is a duty I must keep repeating to all that will listen.

Eating for Energy is a real “life story” for each of you that chooses to believe in themselves. Yuri is an incredible mentor you will enjoy following and let his story help you make your story a best seller.
