How One Meal Can Change Your Life Forever

May 16th, 2010

If you are trying to lose weight and still wondering what you can do better, your are at the right place. Pierrette & I had a great Waldorf Salad for supper last night and wondered why more people need to learn how to Eat for Energy. Sorry Yuri but I need to tell people just how good this meal is.

Eating for Energy is only for people that want to permanently change their lifestyle. Having sumptuous meals that taste great will not suit everyone. Most people assume that to be in great health you need to eat foods that taste bland and suffer through the pain of losing weight. Yes, most assume this and yet look at the success rates, terrible.

Pierrette & I approached this losing weight from a different angle. We asked ourselves:

  • Why do we need to suffer?
  • We want all foods to taste great?
  • We want to make a permanent lifestyle change, permanently?
  • We want to understand what we eat and why we put the stuff in our mouth that is killing us slowly everyday?

Many months ago we were introduced to Yuri Elkaim and started reading his material. Like most information we have been researching, we were skeptical and it has taken us many months of study and trial and error to fully understand how simple this all is.

We often feel like newborns tasting our first spoonfuls of incredible foods.

Last night we had this incredibly tasting meal we need to share with you.

It is on page 247 in Eating for Energy (sorry Yuri we cannot hide this). This Waldorf Salad just blew our minds away. At first the ingredients seemed so easy that I told Pierrette,”Is that all there is, there will not be enough for both of us?”

Little did I know that the first forkful would be so great. The combinations of the ingredients surprised us both and the taste was overwhelming to say the least.

One of the reasons we are all overweight or obese is the love relationship we have built with our food, right? Well start Eating for Energy and you will find a new love. A Healthy Love For Healthy Foods. Once you do, you will never want to go back. Here is the recipe:

2 apples, chopped(fuji) We only had McIntosh, but understand why Fuji and so will you.

2 tomatoes,chopped

2 avocados,chopped

1 orange or yellow sweet pepper, chopped(not oranges the fruit, orange the color).

1/2 sweet onion or shallot, chopped(we had red onion)

handful sprouts (alfalfa,radish.etc.) (we had lentil sprouts that Pierrette helped sprout)

2 tbsp olive oil

pinch of sea salt

dash of cayenne pepper and onion powder

Combine all the ingredients in a salad bowl. It only takes 10 minutes at best to prepare.

There are no cooked foods here, only raw uncooked great tasting food.

There you have it, all you need to do is enjoy and savor every mouthful. If I had to eat only great food like this (and I will) for the rest of my life, and be healthy, why wouldn’t you?

Now please, try this recipe before buying and deciding to follow Pierrette & I & yes Yuri on our journey to permanent great health. If you are not satisfied we will have tried to make you understand.

Food for thought.

Feeding a family is a Mother’s nightmare in today’s hectic lifestyle. Many of you need direction and knowledge to change the growing trend of poor eating habits. Eating for Energy offers, not only the knowledge but, the flexibility of adapting all it’s teachings to the lifestyle.

When we started looking for healthy options Pierrette & I laid down ground rules and followed them to the letter:

  1. All foods must taste great.
  2. Preparation must be kept to a minimum, no fuss.
  3. Preparation must be quick because of the demands of each individual in the family.
  4. All foods used must be readily available.
  5. Adapt all foods to our lifestyle, not our lifestyle to our food.

Eating for Energy has over 120 recipes that fit the criteria.

If you are a concerned Mother, Grandmother, Single Parent, Caregiver or any of the Provider Titles that fit you, let this Mother’s day be one to recognize the reason why we are all here. Eating healthy is the key that ensures physical well being. The mind and the Spirit depend on this energy to let us become the best human beings we can possibly be.

Who Do You Talk To?-What Do You Listen To?

May 6th, 2010

As I walked over one of the two bridges crossing  the Sturgeon River there was a sudden quietness I had not noticed before. It was as though time had stopped and I could hear my heart pound and my breathing was deep and serene. Walking was having an effect on me  I could not have imagined.

Eating for Energy has given me this energy I had not expected. I was not concerned about my health or my body. My mind was revealing all these feelings I had never had before. I was in a peaceful state of mind. This was a new me, a rejuvenated me, a person that seemed to be talking to me as I peacefully continued my walk.

After 50 days of following advice from this incredible Eating for Energy book I am able to walk 10 kilometers in only 90 minutes and I feel so incredibly energized. I would not of been able to do this 10, 20 or even 30 years ago.

The energy I have inside my body  comes from eating the right foods and knowing why I am eating them. I started to walk to keep my mind alert and to have the time to think alone and discovered that my best friend was walking with me.

I truly believe that eating for energy is exactly what it is. I have this energy level I have not had since I was a teen. The book explains the changes that occur within your metabolism and what to expect from these changes.

Your Body, Mind and Spirit are finally working as a unit. You are not tired all the time. Your mind is clear and obviously you also feel the results in every inch of your body.

When your mind is alert it does not have to spend so much time worrying about your physical health and therefore can concentrate more on the life ahead of you. I know I seem confused at times, but all this energy needs to speak and tell the world how great I feel.

I am in control and I know it. That is the revelation you can feel if you decide to finally take care of you. My body has been taking to much energy from my Mind and Spirit for years. I can see clearly for the first time in many years.

Who Do You Talk to? I love to talk to my best friend when I walk and you guessed it. That best friend is ME.

What do you listen to? I follow my heart and I listen to the guidance I get from Eating for Energy. Listen to your heart and you will know what I am talking about. I hope you get to feel how I feel.

‘Eating for Energy’ Saved my Life

May 1st, 2010

Ten years ago my wife and I sat in our favorite sofa and wondered how living in an “Old Age” home would be like. We where 48 years old and ready to settle into a sedentary life and wait to die.

We both have fond memories of feeling old and worn down and thinking we were all alone. When I say “fond”, I mean fond to the wake up call. Being former athletes, even thinking the way we were turned our stomachs inside out.

From that day on, we have been on a mission to achieve Perfect Health. Ten years later, and we now have been together for 42 years and planning for the next 42. Add it up friends, that will help us reach our goal of living “Healthy” until at least 100. Unbelievable, do you agree?

Eating for Energy has become and will always be a big part of our recovery and the reason I want to speak to you all on the Eating for Energy blog is to tell you not to feel alone. Pierrette & I have found thousands of people that feel or felt just like we did. When I say that Eating for Energy saved my life, I truly mean it.

We began what we now call our Thee Quest to find the solutions to our state of mind. We studied and listened to many others that offered help. We where both overweight and wondered if our state of mind had anything to do with our overall terrible sense of always being tired.

After many months and years of trial and error, we were able to lose much of the added weight, but, there was always something missing. We could lose the weight, we are very disciplined, but we needed much more than this. What was the missing ingredient?

We were mad and helpless. We have had this gnawing sensation in our hearts that there had to be more and we began our search to not only “do” what we had to, but  understand “Why“.

Finding Yuri Elkaim BPHE,CK,RHN saved my life because every line I read from his teachings revealed information I did not yet know or understood. The importance of why we eat, alkalinity, allergies, acidity etc. just all made sense because he has the ability to write and talk to “me“, yes just “me”. There is a line that he says and I quote,”If you apply even just 10% of the teachings in this book your life will transform dramatically”. Bold statement. Can you believe that? We do, ‘NOW’.

The biggest mistake we all make is to assume that we understand how to eat, why we eat, the benefits of or the outcome of what will happen if we do this or that. Do you understand what I am saying?

Follow Pierrette & I on the blog and we will share much of what we have learned.

It has saved our lives, it can save yours also.

P.S. Go to page 348 of ‘Eating for Energy‘ and have this incredible drink. Sorry Yuri, I know I am not suppose to give your secrets away but, this is too good not to share with the world.

Foods to Eat Raw

April 6th, 2010

If you are interested starting a raw food diet, you might be at a loss on just one tiny sticking point – what exactly can you eat raw?

Sure, you can eat all the fruits and veggies that you want, but is that all there is to a raw diet? Can you really just live on salads? Don’t worry, a raw food diet can include a lot more than simply spinach and strawberries.

Now, don’t fret. This isn’t just going to be a list of random ingredients with no indication on how you might use them. I mean, sure you can eat nuts and grains and sprouts, but what do you do with a sprout? Is it enough for a meal? You don’t want a shopping list here, you want to know what foods you can eat raw.

Well, how about pizza?

Yes, there are recipes galore that will allow you to eat your favorite fast food pie but in a delicious and healthy raw form. An easy variation involves blending together some buckwheat sprouts, soaked almonds, flax seeds, onion, carrot and garlic into a dough-like consistency for the crust. This crust is then spread thin on a sheet and dehydrated overnight.

Once it’s dry enough, you can cover it with a beautiful raw pizza sauce made from roma tomatoes, fresh basil and garlic. Over that, layer on the red and green peppers, mushrooms and olives.

Want more raw food help?

How about some faux pepperoni on that pizza? All you need to do is thinly slice up some eggplant, and marinade it with a mixture of cold-pressed olive oil, kosher salt, chilli pepper and cayenne pepper. Once thoroughly marinated, pop them in the dehydrator for a few hours, and presto! Peppe-RAW-ni for your pizza.

If pizza is not your thing, then perhaps you would prefer some raw nachos? Instead of oily, over-salted, processed corn chips drowning in cheesy fat, you can munch on something healthy, but still utterly delicious.

Making your own chips is easy – simply blend some flax seeds, corn, sesame seeds, soaked almonds, garlic and a bit of chilli powder, adding water as needed. Spoon the mixture out onto a tray, sprinkle on a little bit of kosher salt, and dehydrate until crispy.

Of course, you can also whip up some fresh raw salsa to go with your chips – just roughly blend some tomatoes, jalapenos and a few spices – or even some fresh guacamole. Toss on a few extra jalapeno slices and some black olives, and you have a snack that can’t be beat.

With either of these recipes, you may be saying it’s pointless without the cheese. Well, you can do one of two things – either hit the local health foods supermarket and find yourself a good (but pricey) raw cheese, or you can make your own cheese substitute. There are tons of great recipes online, usually using nuts like almonds, blended down to a soft, cheese-like texture.

The point here is, learning how to eat a raw food diet means learning that there is so much more than just fruits and vegetables. With a little creativity, they can be almost any meal you desire!
