Eating For Energy-Trying Something New-Benefits

August 2nd, 2010

FreshFruitSmoothieTrying something new using the “Eating For Energy book as become common-place in our home.

When you eat for the right reasons, the food combinations become a game for good health. “How can I get the best drink with the most benefits”, is fun to play and very good tasting. If your lifestyle is fast paced and you always want foods that taste great, don’t be afraid, everything smoothie you make will seem better than the last.

Taste buds seem to improve as our energy level increases. Funny things happen in your mind. It is as though your body cravings search for really healthy foods. Therefore your energy levels are forever increasing.

Here is a new smoothie Pierrette invented this morning: the ingredients are the following

  1. 1/2 Fresh pineapple
  2. 1 pear(pealed and cubed)
  3. 2 bananas(medium size) use fresh or frozen
  4. 2 Tablespoon of ground flax seeds
  5. 1 small slice of Ginger(fresh)
  6. 1 cup of water/ice-Depends on how cold you like your smoothie

Directions: Put all the ingredients together in your high speed blender and let it go. Yields 2 x 14 oz glasses of incredible colors and aroma.

We have juiced pineapple and pear before and found it great but Pierrette wanted to add bananas and make a smoothie.mmm Wait till you taste this.

After you have had this drink just go to Google, yes right on top, and search for the benefits of each ingredient. You will be amazed at all the nutrition you get.

Remember, fruits act as cleansers and vegetables are builders.

Drinks like this take less then 10 minutes to prepare, you can mix and match with what you have in your refrigerator and you can leave the dishes in the sink till you get home(or dishwasher).

Off to work now, just had to let you know. Let me know how long the energy level sustains you after having a great drink like this compared to your normal breakfast.

Eating For Energy is all about saving time to give you quality time for you.

Eating for Energy Smoothie and Juice Guide

July 29th, 2010

FreshFruitSmoothieI am often asked what I eat for breakfast in order to be always be in such a great mood. Well, besides, always having energy to enjoy the day, using the 50 pages of smoothie & juice guide that Yuri gave me with my Eating  For Energy book gives me ideas and combinations to more than fill 365 days of breakfast solutions.

If you have a busy lifestyle(who doesn’t), skipping breakfast is a great mistake. I did it for years and still suffer from it today. Always being tired and “out of gas” before lunch had been a problem for years until I learned why smoothies and juice were the ideal solution:

  1. They are quick to prepare in the morning or the night before.
  2. You can use fresh fruit from the freezer, blend with your own home made nut milk(always fresh) and in less than 5 minutes you are out the door.
  3. A quick get away in the morning when you are full of energy is the only solution. Just take the smoothie or juice with you, that’s all. Simple?

Digestibility of the drink in the morning is the key to a healthy breakfast success. Having a big breakfast use to make my stomach ache in the morning going to work. I think that is a big reason why we tend to skip it. We think we are doing our stomachs a favor, and maybe we where, but our energy levels have always suffered.

  • The whole eating thing as to do with what the food does for our bodies. Highly digestible foods, that quickly gets to our blood streams to give us energy without upseting our sleeping stomachs, is the key to smoothies and juices. You drink it, it goes through your stomach within minutes, is absorbed into your system and voila”, everyone is happy!
  • Smoothies and juice prepared from real fruits and vegetables(no store bought processed stuff for me) gives me all the vitamins and nutrition without the excess fibers and stomach discomforts.
  • Let your stomach breath and sleep easy every morning. Have a smoothie or a juice and your stomach will thank you for it. Believe me when I tell you that your energy level will jump. Try it for a week and let me know.

The variety will get your whole family involved. You will have a waiting list of everyone’s favorite. Each will have there own combinations and you will see beaming faces in the morning.(Have you ever seen Yuri not be beaming?)

You can have  a Spinach Pear Smoothie, page 310.

A Cinnamon Banana Smoothie, page 313.

The list goes on and on. I am trying to paint a breakfast picture for you here!

Apple-Pear Morning Pick ME Up, page 340.

Are you starting to get the picture? No more excuses. Get the Eating For Energy book today. You can download it before breakfast and use what you have in the refrigerator right now.

Eating For Energy Is The Backbone Of Good Health

July 27th, 2010

I just finished reading Yuri’s report on FitterThanthePros.com and realized how important Eating For Energy and all it’s teaching are to the success we all search in getting into the greatest health we need to be in. Please get this free report while it is available and tell as many friends as you can.

Eating For Energy gave me the knowledge I needed to help my kids and grandkids have a better life. Learning the truths about foods, milk products, processing, agricultural techniques, big companies and how they are involved and more was a revelation to me.

I assumed all my life that what my parents thought me about health, good eating habits and physical well being should be the model I pass on to my kids. Little did I know that they did not know what they were doing. I do not blame them, I blame society for not putting the effort to educate us all better.

Yuri has taken the time, the expertise and the knowledge and made it available to us all. He says it like it is. He is a leader in search of other leaders like us to help the children of the world get better education on what Eating For Energy is all about.

When I prepare my day, I always have a prayer for my kids and grandkids. The new knowledge I have learned has given me new hope. Everyone needs to learn what I know and I reach out to as many people as I can everyday.

This blog is a forum that gives me the opportunity to tell you and ask you to listen. Most overweight people I talk to listen politely and turn away. Maybe if more of us speak out about Eating For Energy the message will get across.

I am always amazed at how little I knew about food. I read labels, that I have had available, and cannot believe how little I knew. How important is the quality of the food that goes into your body? Start reading labels today.

The Title says it all: “Eating For Energy Is The Backbone Of Good Health”.

Top 5 Summertime Smoothies

June 7th, 2010

FreshFruitSmoothieEspecially in the summer time, there is nothing quite so refreshing as a delicious raw smoothie. There is something wonderful about the fresh taste and the cold texture that are perfect foils to a hot summer afternoon.

But for many raw food aficionados, the smoothie starts and stops with the ubiquitous raw green smoothie. Raw food eaters are generally pretty adventurous, however, so here are five smoothies you should try as part of a raw foods diet this summer that will help you beat the summer heat, and give you all the benefits of raw food.

First off is the obvious but delicious Very Berry Smoothie. Since roadside berry stands are everywhere in the summer, you can simply go for a drive, and when you get back home, toss what you’ve found into the blender. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and any other berry, along with some ice and a bit of freshly squeezed orange juice. This is a great introductory smoothie for kids, or a great dessert on the hottest of summer nights.

The next smoothie to try might sound a little dubious, but it is wonderfully refreshing. The Spicy Tomato Smoothie is bound to raise some eyebrows and start some conversations. If you enjoy a Bloody Mary or Caesar, this smoothie is your alcohol-free solution for blistering hot days. Blending two tomatoes with jalapeno peppers to taste, along with a touch of sea salt, a cup of ice, a sprig of fresh parsley and a dash of chili powder, this smoothie is a great lunch replacement when it is simply too hot to eat.

The Watermelon Smoothie is perfect for those days when the sprinklers are on and the kids are in their bathing suits, jumping through the spray. Watermelon is great for keeping you hydrated when the temperatures climb, so the smoothie is a natural. Combining a cup of the deseeded flesh of the melon with a cup of ice and a whole sliced apple will provide you with something cool and refreshing to sip in the afternoons.

For something a little richer and creamier, you can try the Almond Smoothie. Made with almond milk, this smoothie will give you a texture similar to a milkshake, but without the pasteurized dairy products. This is also a great dessert smoothie for grown ups and kids with more sophisticated palates or a decided lack of a sweet tooth.

Finally, we have the ultimate dessert smoothie, be it summer or winter: the Chocolate Cherry Smoothie. Of course, you will have to source out some raw chocolate, as most chocolate is made from roasted cocoa beans. But the search will be well worth it. Mix in a handful of raw chocolate chips with half a cup of cherries, a cup of ice and a cup of almond milk. The texture you are going for here is smooth and creamy, reminiscent of a chocolate shake.

No matter which smoothie you choose, you will be find something delicious that will help to keep the summer heat away, and help to keep you on the straight and narrow when it comes to your raw foods diet.

Raw Food Smoothie Recipes

March 23rd, 2010

iStock_000003025292SmallIf the last smoothie that you had came from the mall, I have big news for you. While it might have been made fresh to order, and it might have contained all sorts of delicious fruits, it was probably about as healthy for you as a big, heaping bowl of chocolate ice cream – with whipped cream and sprinkles.

Yes, those smoothies from the fast-food joints are not smoothies that are going to do you any good. If you want a true smoothie – one made only from raw ingredients, and one that is going to make you feel great inside and out, then there is only one place to go – your own kitchen.

Not only will a smoothie made at home cost you pennies on the dollar as compared to what you can buy at the mall, you can control the contents in a way that will really benefit you.

For instance, let’s say it is early in the morning, but not early enough. You have five minutes to get out the door and head to work – no time to brew a cup of coffee, and certainly no time for a properly prepared breakfast.

You could stop somewhere and pick something up, but this recipe will take less time than even the most efficient drive-through window. All you need to do is toss a handful of leftover greens from last night’s dinner – be that spinach, kale or lettuce – into the blender, along with a cored apple, a drizzle of honey, and a cup of ice water. After less than a minute of blending, you have a great, healthy green smoothie that you can pour into a travel mug and enjoy on your way into work. It is nutritious, delicious, modifiable and incredibly easy. What more could you ask for in the morning?

But what if it’s not the morning? What if you’ve just come in from a hard workout, and you need to replace all the fuel you’ve just burned in your system?

You could grab a glass of pasteurized and otherwise dead milk, mixed with a dose of chocolate-flavored syrup. But why not replace the fuel with something of a higher octane than that?

Grab your trusty blender, and toss in a handful of your favorite fruits and berries, along with a few ice cubes, a cup of water and some nut milk – almond tends to work best for flavor, but go with whatever you prefer here. There are other milks available, including raw soy milks, so experiment a little, and find out what works best for you.

If you like a little more sweetness than the berries and fruit provides, add a bit of raw honey or agave syrup. Blend until smooth, and drink while it’s still cold. You’ll get a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals, fluids to replace what you’ve sweated out, and some protein to help those tired muscles to recover. And you’ll do it without all the added processed sugar and the hard-to-process milk products that your regular smoothie stop will usually toss in.
